Project Description
On railway lines 50 and 50C, one of the largest construction sites in Belgian railway history started on 1 August 2020. Between Denderleeuw and Essene-Lombeek the entire railway infrastructure had to be renewed.
Our Track, Catenary and Signalling teams joined forces to complete this enormous track renewal: replacing 17,500 tonnes of ballast, 10,000 railway sleepers, 14 track switches and 9 km of catenary. All this in 23 days working 24/7 under very difficult conditions (heatwave). To illustrate the scale of this huge project, we immortalised it in a video:
