Project Description
Two tunnels were drilled and built between Zaventem Airport Station and the E19 roadbed to improve the railway link between the airport and the stations in Brussels and Antwerp. A new railway line was also built on the central reservation of the E19, connecting Schaerbeek and Mechelen. MOBIX was also involved in this major project as the company responsible for the electrotechnical installations. We supplied and installed the signals in the tunnels and installed cables for electricity and signalling. We also carried out cabling work in the six evacuation complexes, as well as ground and cable work for the construction of the new railway line on the central reservation. In difficult conditions and under severe time constraints, we laid an impressive 565,000 metres of cable and connected around a hundred switchboards.
A few key figures for the project: 35 km HV cables, 430 km signalling and power cables, 100 km fibre optic cables, 60 signals + the corresponding equipment.
